Notes on Email Addresses (used on this website).

Please note that all email addresses used on this website have been written in a special way, so as to disguise them (so that they do not look like valid email addresses) in the HTML source.
The reason for doing this is explained in the last paragraph.

This should not affect you. When you click on one of our email links, your local email editor will be started and the 'To' address will be filled in for you. This email address should be a valid email address (ie it should take the form name@potteriesantiquecentre.com).
If it is not, please correct it before sending.

Why have we had to disguise email addresses ?
We have been forced to do this because of a significant, and increasing, problem of 'spam' (unsolicited email messages) - a problem of which many of you will be aware. Spammers (those who send spam) often use software to automate the process of first gathering email addresses from web pages and then performing bulk email transmissions. The gathering (or "harvesting", as it is often known) is done by software programs known as 'robots' which scour the Internet/web for web pages, and then extract and compile a list of email addresses - or rather, what appear to be valid email addresses. This usually involves scanning for strings of the form X@Y.Z, so disguising the email addresses is usually sufficient to fool the robots.
